Murphy is the second Weimaraner that we welcomed into our home. He was the polar opposite of our first right out of the gate. Murphy joined our home at almost 9 weeks of age and he was already a calm, collected, "old soul". He has been a breeze to train with his eagerness to please and a steady work ethic. We met Greg and Nikki Newton of Oakpoint Weimaraners at several shows during our early years. It was at these shows that we got to know each other. When the time came for us to add a second show boy to our home, we had contacted a few other kennels with litter announcements that all fell through. It was right at this time that Greg and Nikki announced their first litter. We jumped at the chance to connect with them. As fellow owner handlers they understood the work that went into accomplishing what we had and they were thrilled with the opportunity to place their pick boy with us. And what a pick boy he was.... Murphy has taken us on one wild ride on both sides of the border. He is our first AKC Champion and has had some fantastic wins along the way. Murphy is also our first field titled dog and our first agility dog. He is a pleasure to work with and is ready to do anything that is asked of him. We've gone so many places together already and our journey isn't over yet.
After a brief battle with lung cancer, Murphy passed on a warm fall evening out on the deck in the sun. He has Jeff by his side and his girls playing in the yard. He chose to go on his own terms in the perfect way for him. He will be dearly missed, but will live on in all of the lessons he taught us and the girls he helped raise.
